Board-certified neurosurgeon Beejal Y. Amin, MD, FAANS, expertly diagnoses and treats brain and spine disorders. He and his team work out of offices in Hinsdale and Woodridge, Illinois, which are a part of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth.

Dr. Amin specializes in treating cervical (neck) and lumbar (lower back) spine disorders, including herniated discs, sciatica, spinal stenosis, spinal tumors, and scoliosis. He’s also an expert in assessing and treating peripheral nerve conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar neuropathy. Dr. Amin also specializes in the treatment of traumatic brain injury, concussion, and brain tumors.

Dr. Amin takes a conservative approach, using nonsurgical treatments before considering surgery. If surgery is the best choice for his patient, Dr. Amin uses minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) when possible. MISS causes less tissue damage, less pain, and promotes faster recovery. Dr. Amin also excels in artificial disc replacement surgery in the cervical spine.

Dr. Amin earned his medical degree from Rush University Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his Neurosurgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. After his residency, Dr. Amin completed a fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center in San Francisco, California.

Dr. Amin has been a guest lecturer at many national and international professional meetings. He has published more than 10 papers in peer-reviewed journals and authored several book chapters on spine surgery techniques.

Dr. Amin is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, AANS/CNS Joint Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves, and the North American Spine Society.
